Revel in Nostalgia at the City of Highland Park’s New Music and Food Festival: Decades

The City of Highland Park is turning back the clock and bringing the ultimate musical throwback experience to The Lot (525 Central Ave.) with Decades Fest. Fantastic headlining entertainers will perform iconic hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, bringing together decades of music fans!
Travel back in time to experience the groovy sounds, rad tastes, and cool trends from these three decades through a selection of live performances and food and beverage vendors. An interactive “Decades of Music” trail throughout downtown Highland Park businesses adds an element of adventure to this event. Stick around after sundown for a totally tubular Decades-themed drone show!
An eclectic lineup of bands will take the stage all day on September 14, from 12 PM – 10 PM:
Saturday, September 14, 12 PM - 10 PM:
- 12:15 PM – 2:15 PM: Chicago-based Four Man Band kicks off Decades Fest with rock and pop covers of iconic sounds from Aerosmith, Police, Queen, and more.
- 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM: Up next is 7th Heaven, known for their three-time #1 spot on the Midwest Billboard Charts. Their original pop, rock, and dance songs are not to be missed!
- 5:30 PM - 7:15 PM: Get a groove on with funk and disco tribute band, The Disco Circus! Once this circus takes the stage, the crowd will be transported back to the 7os with hits from the Bee Gees, ABBA, Donna Summer, and more.
- 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Decades will conclude with The 1985; the ultimate 1980s music tribute experience. Performing classics from Journey, Bon Jovi, Madonna, and others, get ready to party like it’s 1985.
On September 14, from 10 AM to 5 PM, visit Rock N’ Rags (613 Central Ave) to pick up a “Decades of Music” sticker card. Take this card with you along an interactive trail through downtown Highland Park businesses to collect a sticker at each participating business. Completed sticker cards can then be redeemed back at The Lot from noon to 9 PM for a $10 coupon which can be used at any of the participating on-site restaurants vendors during the event. In addition, all completed and redeemed cards will be entered into a drawing: one lucky winner will receive a grand prize basket valued at $500. The winner will be announced onstage stage at 9:30 PM (guest must be present to win).
With all the moving and grooving, attendees are bound to work up an appetite. On-site vendors will bring a diverse array of food and drinks to choose from, including Mexican, Indian, American, Venezuelan, vegan/vegetarian options, grilled items, pizza, wine, craft beer, cocktails, sweet treats, and more. Participating food vendors include BWB Shakes, Cafe Dacha, Curt’s Café, Judy’s Pizza, La Taquiza HP, Michael’s Grill & Salad Bar, Ordo, Pixca, Ravinia Brewing Company, and Tamales. Libations will be available for those 21 and older!
