Heavy Rain Will Break Heat Wave In IL

There could be some flooding around the area on Wednesday, with some areas receiving more than 2 inches of rain.

After several days of 90 degree heat, rain has arrived to break the heat wave in the Chicago area. Wednesday will see some moderate to heavy rain, which is actually the remnants of sub-tropical storm Alberto, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS, some areas could receive one to two inches of rain, or even more than two inches on Wednesday. Severe storms aren't anticipated with this rain, although there could be some wind and hail with the showers.

After the rain on Wednesday, it will still be 89 degrees on Thursday but Friday will be cooler at 78 degrees.
