Christmas, Holiday Events In Homer Glen, Lockport

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — There is no shortage of things to do in Homer Glen and Lockport to get the winter holiday season off to a rollicking good start.

Christmas and Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, intersect this year, with Hanukkah running Dec. 18-26. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the holidays.

Kick off the holiday season with the Homer for the Holidays event at Heritage Park in Homer Glen on Dec. 4. It is free admission for the event, which will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Guests can enjoy photos with Santa, holiday crafts, ice sculptures, a Kris Kringle market, the annual tree lighting ceremony, refreshments, food trucks and live music.

There will also be a Letters to Santa mailbox in the park, where kids can mail letters. The holiday lights display in the park will run nightly until Jan. 2.

In Lockport, there are also some ways to send a letter to Santa. The Reindeer Express mailboxes are open until Dec. 15.

The mailboxes can be found in the vestibules at Central Square, 222 E. Ninth St.; Lockport Township Government building, 1463 S. Farrell Road; and Challenge Fitness, 2021 Lawrence Ave.
When you write to Santa, include a self-address stamped envelope with your letter, so Santa can write back.
