19-Year-Old Charged With Reckless Homicide After Fatal Lemont Crash

The crash happened on April 18, and a 25-year-old from Homer Glen was killed.

LEMONT, IL — A 19-year-old has been charged with reckless homicide in connection to a fatal crash last month in Lemont.

Police said Giovanni Borchert, 19, of Cornell, Illinois, was arrested Wednesday after an extensive investigation of the April 18 crash.

A 25-year-old man from Homer Glen was killed in the crash, in the southbound lanes of Lemont Road at Bluff Road, police said.

Borchert was charged with reckless homicide, aggravated reckless driving, speeding 35+ over the limit, improper lane use, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Police said Borchert was processed at the Lemont Police Department and taken to the Bridgeview Courthouse, where he was issued a $50,000 D-Bond. His next court date is still pending.
