Representatives from Aurora, Montgomery and Kendall County will attend the meeting with Caterpillar

Aurora Mayor Robert O'Connor told the Beacon News that he and other local officials will meet with Caterpillar representatives next week or the following week. Montgomery Village President Matt Brolley and Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder will also attend the meeting.

Mayor O'Connor said he wants to know what the city can do to keep the manufacturing plant in the area.

"We're just saying, what is it going to take?" O'Connor told the Beacon News.

Caterpillar announced in early January that it may shift production of some equipment to other U.S. locations. The move could impact 800 of the 2,000 jobs at the facility in unincorporated Oswego Township.

Officials have expressed concern over the impact of losing hundreds of jobs.

"At this point we need to prepare for the worst and hope for the best," Village President Matt Brolley said at a village board meeting according to the Beacon News.

Caterpillar announced on Tuesday that it would be moving its global headquarters, including 300 employees, to the Chicago area later this year.
