Inspiring Young People to Change Their World

Inspiring Young People to Change Their World

SaLT: Service and Learning Together is being spotlighted on the Community Art Wall located in the lobby of First Bank Chicago. The new exhibit highlights their mission to create meaningful service-learning experiences that meet the needs of the local community while promoting personal growth and understanding.

SaLT provides invaluable life lessons and experiences for young people. By participating in SaLT programs young people learn to provide services to meet the needs of their community. SaLT instills values in participants like engaging in meaningful service, working on a common purpose, and expanding personal knowledge and growth.

"SaLT has consistently worked to bridge gaps in our community by fostering connections and providing essential support for underserved families Our initiatives—Shop N’ Drop, Love2Learn, and Take Care Packages—have addressed immediate needs and established a foundation for long-term collaboration among service-minded individuals. We are grateful for our dedicated student leaders, generous donors, and committed volunteers. Together, we are always stronger," said Ida Fiore, Co-founder and President.

Shop n’ Drop, powered by SaLT: Service and Learning Together, provides groceries and personal items on a bi-weekly basis to families who are food insecure and economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Families are still having difficulty affording their basic needs, including paying for food, rent and bills, just trying to recover from the impact COVID has created, in addition to the cost of items due to inflation. By addressing these needs, Shop N’ Drop plays a vital role in helping families make ends meet, ensuring they have access to nutritious food, personal items, and connections to resources that can assist in their recovery from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SaLT exhibit is located in the bank lobby and will be open to the public during regular business hours throughout the month of August.
