Formally known as David or even Dave, nobody really called him that. Rather, he was known by all as Davo. A nickname he picked up in childhood that stuck with him throughout his life.

Growing up in Hyde Park, Davo took an early interest in the arts and turned that passion into lifelong career as a graphic designer owning his own business for almost 50 years.

But there was more to Davo than just work. An eternal optimist, over the course of his 88 years, he crammed in a lot. He was a well-known caricaturist and fixture at art fairs all across Chicago. A founding member and President of the Brotherhood at BJBE synagogue in Glenview. A longtime volunteer of the Wilmot Ski Patrol in Wisconsin. And an avid collector and expert of antique advertising who was never happier than discovering a long-lost treasure during early mornings at dusty flea markets.

Accomplishments aside, he’d probably tell you his greatest achievement in life was his marriage to Marcia. A chance meeting at Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute in 1957 led to a lifetime of memories, friendships, children, grandchildren, and joy. All of which David, Dave, or Davo, would love everyone reading this to continue to pass on.

Please join with us and celebrate his memory at a service this Monday 10AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Zion Gardens Cemetery, 3600 N. Narragansett Ave., Chicago.
