NORTHBROOK, IL — "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," a musical based on the popular picture book by cartoonist Mo Williams, is set to fly into Northbrook. Starting Saturday through Dec. 2, the children's show will be performed by the Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences.

The show, best suited for children 5 and up, will be performed at the theater's Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave. Tickets are $17 and advanced ticket purchases are recommended, according to the Northbrook Park District. For a complete list of showtimes, visit here.

The book earned a Caldecott Honor award in 2004 by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. The Northbrook production will have a cast of six, with a puppet in the lead role.

"His children's books are really popular and translate well for our audiences," said Drew Kambach, Northbrook Park District visual and performing arts manager. "'Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!' is a fairly simple picture book, but it's a lot of fun. Bringing the story to the stage, putting songs to it and adding puppets elevates the storytelling and makes it more of an experience."
