Input Wanted On Potential West Park Project: Northbrook Park District

A community meeting is planned for May 30 and a survey is currently open through next month.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Looking to "refresh" the park's amenities, specifically replacing old equipment and the playground, Northbrook Park District officials are seeking community input regarding the future of West Park. The 24-acre park, located behind the Northbrook Sports Center, features seasonal soccer fields, two baseball fields, a softball field, two sand volleyball courts, three tennis courts, a playground, a drinking fountain and a walking path.

"West Park's equipment and playground have reached the end of their useful life, and as we move to refresh those amenities, we are taking the opportunity to examine the park as a whole," Northbrook Park District Executive Director Chris Leiner said. "We invite neighbors and park users to share their thoughts about the park's amenities and their usage, and we look forward to getting their input."

  • Complete the West Park survey at nbparks.co/westpark by June 14
  • Attend a community meeting open to the public from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on May 30 in the Community Room of the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road. The meeting will include focused questions, brainstorming, discussion and identification of preferences.

Officials said NPD is considering applying for an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help fund the potential renovation of West Park, located at 1730 Pfingsten Road.
