NORTHBROOK, IL – Northbrook is partnering with a local organization in an effort to help support child abuse survivors by showcasing a five-foot heart sculpture hand painted by a local artist.

Northbrook will team up with the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of North and Northwest Cook County through the organization's "Healing Hearts" campaign. The sculpture is hand-painted by local artist Heather Killian and is sponsored by the Northbrook Arts Commission and is located outside the Northbrook Police Station.

The Northbrook Police Department and the Village of Northbrook provide an annual contribution to CAC for their work and support with cases of child abuse in Northbrook. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of CAC's traditional fundraising event and an increase need in services, the village and police department offered additional support by becoming a $5,000 Heal Sponsor of the Healing Hearts Campaign.

“The CAC has and will continue to be a valuable resource to Northbrook as we work to help protect our children,” said village President Kathryn Ciesla in a prepared statement. “Placing our beautiful Healing Heart outside of the police department honors both Northbrook’s commitment to our children and our police officers who work tirelessly to keep all of us safe.”
