NORTHBROOK, IL — A local pediatric mental health center that works with young people in dealing with various issues such as anxiety and mood disorders is expanding its services to work specifically working with younger patients who need more specialized care.

Plena Mind Center in Northbrook recently announced that its new Dragonfly program will provide mental health care for children between the ages of 6 and 10. The program will work with children who may be demonstrating disruptive, oppositional, and or aggressive behaviors at home, officials from the local care center said in a news release.

Medical professionals at the facility say that it is very common for these behaviors to not be an issue in a school setting. The goal of Plena’s Dragonfly program is to catch difficulties that these children may be experiencing early and then provide tools that the child’s family can use in helping the child cope with their condition.
