NSSC Hosts Seminar: Understanding Physical and Psychological Changes

North Shore Senior Center invites residents to participate in an open, informative discussion about celebrating sexuality later in life

North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) will present a thoughtful, sensitive, and frank discussion about celebrating sexuality in later life. Community residents are invited to attend the seminar, “Senior Sex: Understanding Physical and Psychological Changes” on Thursday, May 23 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at NSSC, 161 Northfield Road, Cohn Room, or join via Zoom.

Residents are encouraged to register online. Or call NSSC’s Lifelong Learning Department at 847.784.6030 between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants can attend in person at North Shore Senior Center or via a Zoom virtual streaming link emailed upon registration. There is no fee required to participate.

Meet the Speaker and What Will Be Shared

The seminar presenter, Karen Lee Fontaine, Certified Diplomate of Sex Therapy, will address life changes such as loss of a spouse/partner or illness/disability, require us to develop new behavior in our sexual lives. Discussion will also focus on strategies for having a life-long, satisfying sexual life.

As the article points out, Karen Lee Fontaine will also discuss at the May 23 seminar: “So what does sexual wellness really look like in our middle and later years? It is clear that our sexual needs and desires don’t disappear at some arbitrary age, yet we would be remiss not to acknowledge the mental and physical changes that come with growing older.”
