Richard D. Sinsheimer, 101 years old, loving husband to his wife of over 60 years, Alice - may her memory be a blessing, and father to sons Jim and John, died peacefully on June 3, 2023.

Richard, or Dick as he liked to be called, was born in Chicago in 1922 to Allen and Rose Sinsheimer and lived his younger life in the Hyde Park area of Chicago's South Side with his two brothers, Robert and Allen, Jr. After graduating from Hyde Park High School, Dick began his business career working in sales at the Sears and Roebuck Company. But World War II interrupted his business development and he joined the United States Army, serving in North Africa, Italy and France installing navigation equipment on B17's and B24s. Dick embraced his service and actually had some positive memories of his experiences which he would enthusiastically share. After the war ended, he was honorably discharged and he began working with his father at the National Clothier Corp, then a monthly magazine and small mail order business serving the retail clothing industry.

In 1946, Dick met Alice Danziger, a German immigrant who also lived on the South Side of Chicago. The two dated, eventually falling in love and were married on April 16, 1947. Two years later, their first son, Jim was born followed three years later with the birth of John. With his father's retirement, Dick took over the helm of the company, substantially growing its mail order business serving the retail clothing business until 1983.
He loved to listen to opera, fish in northern Wisconsin, take and produce photographs and, most of all, being with his beloved wife Alice. Dick served on the building committee for the Self Help Center in Chicago and, along with Alice, were founding members of Temple Jeremiah.
