NORTHBROOK, IL — If Northbrook Village President Kathryn L. Ciesla has her way, Muriel Collison, a trustee since 2017, won't go very far when she officially resigns from her seat on the Village Board Dec. 11.

"I'm going to publish her address so we can all find her," Ciesla joked at Tuesday's Northbrook Village Board meeting.

Collison, an attorney, announced last month she is resigning due to a family medical issue. Her term ends in April 2025, so the Village is seeking her replacement. A deadline to apply passed on Tuesday.

Ciesla, who said the Village held a celebration for Collison prior to the meeting, read a resolution honoring the former Northbrook Plan Commission member (2013-2017).

"Muriel has dedicated herself to her family and the Northbrook community, and has served as a Village trustee with distinction for six years," Ciesla said. "Muriel is a true homegrown Village trustee, having lived in Northbrook her whole life and raising her children as fifth-generation residents of Northbrook."

Among Collison's accomplishments, Ciesla praised her colleague for her work on the redevelopment project at Northbrook Court, bringing sick leave to the Village, a push for supportive housing, advocating transparency and improvements in communication by the Village.
