August 30, 2023

On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, the Village of Northbrook experienced a loss of pressure within its water distribution system. This loss of pressure was due to several water main breaks affecting the 800 to 1500 blocks of Skokie Boulevard and the 1000 block of Sunset Ridge Road as well as malfunctioning water shut-off valves in the area. Pressure has been restored to the system; however, a Precautionary Boil Order for the Village’s water has been put into effect. This boil order will remain in effect until at least Friday, September 1. The Village is collecting water samples in the affected area to verify the safety of the water before the boil order is lifted. Once again, this precautionary boil order will remain in effect until at least Friday, September 1 or when water samples have verified as safe for normal usage. Please see these maps of the affected areas and boil order FAQ:
