In 2017 food blogger Karen Nochimowski, at MommaChef.com, opened Momma Chef's Soup Kitchen in Chicago The goal of the Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen is to help the less fortunate living in the surrounding neighborhoods by providing them healthy, homemade meals. This includes the elderly, unemployed, underemployed, poor, and homeless – women, men and children. During Covid, Karen saw the increase in those with food insecurity around Chicago, she started Momma Chef's Little Free Pantry Movement. So far, she has provided over 20,000 homemade meals and over 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food to those in need.
