Rockford Shootings: 3 Killed, Including 17-Year-Old Boy: Police

ROCKFORD, IL — Three people, including a teen boy, died after multiple shootings in Rockford on Sunday night, ABC 27 reported.

The shootings happened in the 2300 block of 23rd Street and the 4200 block of Middlebury Avenue, which are around one mile apart, Rockford police told the outlet.

A total of five people were shot, with three people killed and another two showing up to local hospitals, the outlet reported, citing 13 WREX.

On Twitter, the department stated that a 29-year-old man, as well as 17-and 18-year-old males, "succumbed to their injuries" in the shootings and that two other people had serious gunshot wounds.

Investigators asked that residents "please be patient as we continue our investigation."

Chief Carla Redd told ABC 27 that officers are trying to identify a suspect in the shooting and that they believe all of those involved in the shootings knew each other.

The chief reportedly told 13 WREX investigators have not yet confirmed if the shootings are related.
