Cops Answer Letters To Santa On West Side

Officers volunteered to fill in for the jolly old man, and answered dozens of letters from kids who've faced hardships over the past year.

CHICAGO — Chicago Police officers in the 15th District replied to 70 letters from children on the city's West Side this week. The letters were sent by Chicago Public School students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

For the second year, officers and community members in the district drew the letters from 'Santa's Secret Mailbox,' and volunteered to fill in for Santa in Austin-area elementary schools.

The letters were written by children whose families have faced hardships
during the holiday season, the Chicago Police Department said.
