WHEATON, IL — Deputies from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) will be out in full force ahead of Labor Day to target drunk, distracted, speeding and otherwise unsafe drivers. The traffic safety initiative is part of a statewide campaign that kicked off Aug. 16.

In a news release, DCSO urged residents to buckle their seatbelts and designate a sober driver year-round.

"We want our community to understand the importance of making smart decisions behind the wheel, on Labor Day and every day," DCSO Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement. "While our goal is voluntary compliance, drivers should expect strict enforcement of all traffic laws on DuPage County roads every day."
