YORKVILLE, IL — A man who exposed himself and recorded children at Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville was sentenced to seven years in prison, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office said Friday.

Andrew Pusateri, of the 200 block of Washington Square in Elk Grove Village, received the sentence in a plea deal earlier this week for the offenses of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and child pornography.

In July 2023, lifeguards caught the 39-year-old lying in a raft in the lazy river with his swim trunks down, exposing himself at Illinois's largest water park. When Yorkville detectives got involved, they determined he recorded children in the lazy river using a handheld camera. Some videos showed him touching kids' feet with his hands and his genitals, according to a news release.

Police "were meticulous in scouring" the video surveillance from the park as well as ticket records to try to match them up with Pusateri's videos in an attempt to identify the victims.

"Predators such as Pusateri are a threat to our children," Weis said. "I want to commend the efforts of the staff at Raging Waves as well as the detectives from the Yorkville Police Department for helping to catch this offender and lock him up for years to come. My hope is that Pusateri and others that try to prey on our children learn that prison awaits you if you try it in Kendall County."
