DC Man Shot, Killed While Driving On I-295

Prince George's County Police homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a District man Saturday on Interstate 295.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County Police are investigating a fatal shooting of a man driving on Interstate 295 Saturday afternoon, according to a police release. The victim has been identified as Damaris Lindsey, 38, of Washington, D.C.

On March 21, around 12:20 p.m., PGPD officers were called to the report of a shooting on northbound I-295 near the exit for eastbound Route 50. Arriving on the scene, officers found Lindsey in the driver's seat of a van that had smashed into a guardrail. Suffering from a gunshot wound, Lindsey was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

PGPD homicide detectives are working to determine the events leading up to the shooting as well as identifying suspects.
