Armed Robbers Guilty In Theft From Columbia Postal Worker

A suspect pleaded guilty while a second was found guilty for their role in the attempted theft of a universal key from a postal worker.

COLUMBIA, MD — A U.S. postal worker based out of the Oak Hall Post Office was robbed at gunpoint at the beginning of her route in 2022. The two suspects involved in that armed robbery have been convicted.

On June 21, 2022, two men followed the postal worker and robbed her. She was targeted for a universal key that can break into mailboxes in the Howard County area to steal checks and debit cards, according to the Howard County Office of the State's Attorney.

Fermon Nichols, of Bowie, pleaded guilty earlier this month to armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence for his involvement. Teshan Jordan, of Temple Hills, was found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and theft scheme.

Nichols will be sentenced March 22. Jordan’s sentencing in Howard County is set for Feb. 16. He also currently faces charges in Baltimore County for another armed robbery of a U.S. postal service letter carrier. That case is set for Feb.27. Jordan was on probation in Prince George’s County at the time of these offenses.
