Teen Shot In Columbia Critically Injured: Police

Police said they believe the shooting in Columbia was not random.

COLUMBIA, MD — A teen was seriously injured during an overnight shooting in Columbia, according to police.

Law enforcement responded shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday to Snowden River Parkway and Patuxent Woods Drive, where they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was listed in critical condition, according to police.

“Preliminarily, police believe the shooting was not random but continue to investigate the circumstances and a possible motive,” Howard County authorities said in a news release.

Law enforcement believe the teen was shot while in a vehicle on Snowden River Parkway south of Rustling Leaf, according to police, who added that the other occupants were not hurt.
