EDGEWATER, MD — Black Market Bakers opened last Friday in Edgewater. The bakery will now serve breakfast and dessert from its shop on Main Street at South River Colony.

The O'Leary family started their business during the thick of the coronavirus pandemic. With indoor dining limited, the bakers opened a food truck outside their Chevys Fresh Mex in Annapolis.

The pop-up bakery eventually caught the attention of NBC producers. The channel invited Tom O'Leary and his son, Steve O'Leary, to compete in its new show called "Baking It." The bakers did not take home the top prize, but their TV appearance grew anticipation for their grand opening.
