EDGEWATER, MD β€” The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is beginning several major projects that will enhance safety and improve intersection operations, including one at the MD 214 (Central Avenue)/MD 468 (Muddy Creek Road) intersection in Mayo.

Crews will work at night to complete the work by the start of the school year. Approximately 21,000 vehicles use this section of MD 214 each day, the MDOT SHA reported.

MDOT SHA will resurface and restripe the existing intersection to create a dedicated turn lane in each direction. Once complete, eastbound MD 214 will have one through lane and a dedicated right-turn-only lane, and westbound MD 214 will have two through lanes and a dedicated left-turn-only lane.
