DAVIDSONVILLE, MD — South River High School graduate Sarah Healy of Davidsonville has been named the NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The Anne Arundel Community College sophomore center has averaged 21.7 points and 16 rebounds per game in the team's last three Riverhawks wins.

Currently riding a seven-game double-double streak dating back to last season, Healy scored a total of 65 points while shooting 65 percent from the floor in three games last week. She added five assists, six steals and five blocks. In a 75-42 home win over Camden County College on Nov. 7, Healy scored 28 points to go with 17 rebounds and four steals.

In the opening game of the Westmoreland Tip Off Tournament, she scored 24 points while shooting 85 percent (11-13), adding 15 boards in an 88-65 win over the host Wolfpack. The following day she scored 13 points with 16 rebounds as AACC dealt Westmoreland a 78-56 loss. Healy leads NJCAA Division III with 76 rebounds through five games this season, ranking fourth among the nation’s leaders in rebounds per game with 15.2.

“Sarah is a workhorse in practice and games and that has led to her success in the classroom and on the court,” said Riverhawks Head Coach Lionel Makell.

Healy started 24 of 25 games in her freshman campaign, averaging a double double with 19.6 points and 16.4 rebounds per game. AACC finished the 2018-19 campaign as Region XX Champions and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament.
