LAS VEGAS β€” Brothers Osborne on Sunday won the Grammy Award for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for its coming-out anthem, "Younger Me." This is the first Grammy for the country-rock band from Deale.

Frontman TJ Osborne came out as gay in February 2021. That made him the first openly gay man signed to a major country music label, TIME reported.

Brothers Osborne released "Younger Me" two months later. The song is a slowed reflection on the youth struggles that made TJ Osborne the man he is today.

"I never thought that I would be able to do music professionally because of my sexuality," TJ Osborne said in the band's acceptance speech. "I certainly never thought I would be here on the stage accepting a Grammy after having done something I felt like was going to be life-changing, potentially in a very negative way."

The audience cheered after the duo explained the song's meaning. TJ Osborne teared up as he thanked everybody who supported him on his journey.

"Here I am tonight, not only accepting this Grammy award with my brother, whom of which I love so much, but I'm here with a man that I love and who loves me back," the singer said. "I don't know what I did to be so lucky."

TJ Osborne's brother and bandmate, John Osborne, thanked his younger self for chasing his musical dreams.

"We all have a younger self in us," John Osborne said. "Thank them because they got you here, and take care of that person."

Along with this Grammy win, the Anne Arundel County natives have nine career nominations.

The Marylanders were also up for this year's Best Country Album for their record "Skeletons." Chris Stapleton earned that award, however, for his album "Starting Over."

Brothers Osborne later closed out the awards show with "Dead Man's Curve," an upbeat song off "Skeletons."
