Edgewater Home Catches Fire, Displaces 4: Report

EDGEWATER, MD β€” Officials said an Edgewater home caught fire Tuesday afternoon. The blaze displaced four residents, a press release added.

The write-up noted that the occupants called 911 around 12:04 p.m. to report smoke coming from their basement. First responders confirmed that smoke was visible from outside the one-story, single-family house, located in the 1500 block of Mayfield Road.

Firefighters advised that they found the flames near the water heater in the basement. A 32-person crew controlled the fire within 20 minutes, the incident report explained.

Investigators think the blaze was accidental. They do not know how much damage the fire caused, but they indicated that smoke detectors were present and worked properly.

The Annapolis Fire Department assisted the Anne Arundel County Fire Department's response, officials informed. The team did not list any injuries.
