Edgewater Restaurant Named To Best Oktoberfest List

An Edgewater establishment has been deemed one of the best spots around to celebrate Oktoberfest.

EDGEWATER, MD β€” An Edgewater restaurant has another reason to raise a glass. Old Stein Inn was named one of the best places to celebrate Oktoberfest in the D.C. area by The Washington Post.

The celebration of German heritage, culture and beer is typically held over more than two weeks, ending on the first Sunday in October. The official festivities organized by the city of Munich end Sunday, Oct. 7, in Germany.

For those who want to get into the Oktoberfest spirit closer to home, Old Stein Inn is the go-t0 destination in Maryland, according to The Washington Post.

The German restaurant offers several events before the end of Oktoberfest, in addition to its menu filled with schnitzel and German beer, in its biergarten.

  • 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28: Costumed quartet Heidi & The Heimat Echo, traditional German music
  • 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29: Sylvia strolling with the accordion
  • 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30: German polka band Mike Surratt & The Continentals
  • 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5: Sylvia strolling with the accordion
  • 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6: Sylvia strolling with the accordion
  • 4-8 p.m. Spanferkel "Pig Roast Sunday: Mike Surratt & The Continentals

Two other locations with beer gardens hosting ongoing Oktoberfest activities β€” Tysons Biergarten in Virginia and Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill β€” made the "Best Places to Celebrate Oktoberfest in the D.C. Area" list, which also included six special events.
