The Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, situated where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay, tells the story of this region’s rich maritime heritage. Exhibits tell the story of Captain John Smith’s Journey up the Chesapeake Bay in 1608, how watermen through the years have ... harvested herring, shad, eel, oysters, crab, perch, catfish and bass, the story of Havre de Grace’s Ice Harvests, and in the Kids’ Corner there’s a sandbox for pirate and sailor dress-up games. The nearby Havre de Grace Decoy Museum boasts one of the finest collections of both working and artisanal Chesapeake Bay decoys ever assembled, and prides itself on being the “Decoy Capital of the World!”."
