Female Students Had To Remove Shirts In MoCo College Class: Feds

A Montgomery College professor required female students attending his class to remove their shirts and wear only their bras while he also commented on their bodies, a federal investigation found. The professor's conduct was detailed after a federal sexual harassment investigation into the school stemming from the professor's "harassing conduct."

Ex-MD Police Chief Sentenced For Arson, Attempted Murder: Report

Former Laurel police chief David Crawford was sentenced to serve multiple life sentences in prison after a Howard County jury found him guilty of attempted murder and arson. He was found guilty of arson and eight counts of attempted first-degree murder for setting at least a dozen fires between 2011 and 2020 at the homes of people he believed slighted him. Crawford was charged in Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties. He reportedly set fires in Anne Arundel and Charles counties but was never charged.

MD Supreme Court Agrees To Hear 'Serial' Subject Adnan Syed's Case

The Maryland Supreme Court agreed to review a lower court's decision to reinstate Adnan Syed's murder conviction in the 1999 death of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. In a short order, Senior Justice Shirley Watts wrote that the court will hear questions raised by Syed in his appeal, as well as those presented by Lee's family.

MD State Police Recover $18K For Victim Of Phone Scam

Maryland State Police helped a man recover $18,000 before he became the victim of a phone scam. The man received a call two days earlier from someone claiming to be a Walmart representative who told him they could repay his debt using pre-paid gift cards. Then he was told to ship $18,000 in certified checks to an address in Florida.

Capital Gazette Shooting Victims Honored With Portrait Gallery

A recent portrait gallery honored the Capital Gazette shooting victims five years after the newspaper attack. Wednesday was the fifth anniversary of the mass shooting that killed five staffers: Wendi Winters, Gerald Fischman, Rebecca Smith, John McNamara and Rob Hiaasen.

Mass Shooting Victims Remembered As Caring Dads At Funerals

Family and friends remembered a father and son killed in an Annapolis mass shooting as caring fathers. "They would give you the shirt off their back," family friend Lola James said. Three victims were fatally shot June 11 in Annapolis after a birthday party parking dispute, court records said, while three surviving victims were hospitalized.

10 Arrests Made, $2M In Cocaine Seized In Drug Ring

Ten people face drug-trafficking charges and $2 million worth of cocaine was seized in what authorities said was a lengthy investigation into a drug ring operating in the Severn and Glen Burnie areas. The defendants are charged with multiple conspiracies; possession with intent to distribute cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, among other drugs; and related firearms charges.
