Maryland Weather Forecast: Record Highs — Then Snow

Record-setting high temperatures in the 70s will soon be replaced by snow across Maryland, says the National Weather Service.

HANOVER, MD — Don't get used to that balmy springlike 72 degrees outside. Not in February. Brace yourself, Maryland, because winter returns Wednesday night with a chance of — wait for it — snow. While the National Weather Service says a record high of 72 degrees was set about 4 p.m. Tuesday at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, shattering the record high of 64 degrees, the thermometer is about to plunge.

Rain chances creep in overnight, although Wednesday will still be abnormally warm with a high temperature in the mid-60s expected. But Wednesday night into Thursday reality crashes the party and a cold front will bring snow to much of the state. Maybe not enough snow to shovel, but it will mean grabbing your winter coat again.

From Baltimore to Annapolis, Columbia, Rockville and Bethesda, look for a maximum of one inch of snow, while points south will seen even less frozen precipitation. And temperatures will rebound somewhat by the weekend, edging back into the 50s.
