A mom won $100,000 to remodel her home on a scratch-off in Edgewater. A Glen Burnie woman scored $50,000, marking her third lottery prize.

The Maryland Lottery said players in these towns won or claimed prizes of at least $10,000 last week: Edgewater, Glen Burnie and Hanover.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County has seen two notable Maryland Lottery winners recently.

A mom claimed $100,000 on a scratch-off in Edgewater. She plans to use the money to remodel her kitchen and other parts of her home.

An 82-year-old also scored $50,000 on a scratcher Friday, Jan. 13, a day that many superstitious folks consider unlucky.

That was the Glen Burnie resident's third major lottery prize. The retired nurse previously snagged $50,000 in 2017 and $100,000 in 2019, both on popular scratch-off games.

Mom Wins Big in Edgewater

The $100,000 winner usually checks her tickets with her husband and her adult son, but she played early this time. The frequent player decided to save the news until later because her husband was working in the basement and her son was sleeping at the moment.

"I wanted to show it to them when we were all together," the anonymous victor stated in a Jan. 17 press release. "I said, 'While you're here, take a look at this.'"

She scanned the ticket on the lottery's mobile application and saw a message directing her to take it to a lottery retailer. None of them had seen that message before.

The family later confirmed that they hit the jackpot on the Six Figures game.

The woman bought the $10 ticket at High's #071, located in Edgewater at 116 Central Ave.

High's will get a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the top-prize winning scratch-off.

Six Figures debuted last month and has six top prizes remaining.

Repeat Victory In Glen Burnie

The repeat victor swung by Doc's F&B Liquors on Friday the 13th to play her numbers and buy a few scratchers.

"I knew right away I won," the anonymous winner said in a Monday press release. "And, what's crazy, is that my other two wins were bought in this very same store."

This time, she won the top prize on the $5 Cash Money scratch-off.

The woman shared the news with her husband before heading home in disbelief. She then told her son who double-checked the ticket for her.

"I think I was more excited than she was," said her son, who accompanied her to claim the prize. "I'm so happy for her."

The woman, who is also a great-grandmother, collected her winnings this week. She plans to use the money to help her family.

Doc's F&B Liquors, located in Glen Burnie at 7067 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the jackpot winner.

Cash Money launched in December 2022. The game has six top prizes left.
