Prostitution Investigation At Edgewater Massage Parlor Prompts Charges: Police

Two massage parlor employees were charged after a prostitution investigation in Edgewater, police said.

EDGEWATER, MD β€” Two employees of an Edgewater massage parlor have been charged with sex-related crimes and license infractions, authorities said. This case does not involve human trafficking, Anne Arundel County Police officers said.

Authorities identified the suspects as 54-year-old Nian Chen of Annapolis and 61-year-old Meifang Shi of Flushing, New York. Police said both women worked at Oriental Massage, located at 3143 Solomon’s Island Road.

Officers said Chen faces charges of general prostitution and performing massage therapy without a license.

Shi is up against charges of an attempted fourth-degree sex offense and performing massage therapy without a license, authorities said.

The charges are all misdemeanors.

Court records accuse the employees of committing each offense on March 16.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said detectives launched the investigation after receiving "information regarding possible prostitution activity" at the business.

The agency announced the charges on March 28.
