Your Local Weis Market

What "Family" is to weis. You'd be better off being an outsider

Weis market should be ashamed.

My mom Ida Craft, has worked for Food Lion/ Weis for 11 years in Edgewater.
In that time she has done some wonderful things, for example, she had bought cards out of her own pocket for sick customers. She has bought cards for customers that have lost their loved ones. She would take the time to have all the employees sign the cards she gave to the customers in their time of need. She has carried groceries out and put them in customers cars. She walks elderly customers to their car without even a hesitation. I have even witnessed first hand, my mom paid for customers groceries when they didn’t have the money to cover the entire order. She had taken customers home, if they felt ill. She never hesitated to hug anyone in need. Cause honestly sometimes people just need a hug.
I’ll never forget one day, a customer had locked her keys in her car... and my mom stopped everything she was doing to call her son in law to have him get the keys out of their car so they didn’t have to pay for a tow bill. Did my mom have to do this? No she didn’t. All she had to do was show up and do her job.. but that isn’t who she is. She is a great person with an even greater heart. Weis isn’t just a job to her, it’s apart of who she is.
She considers employees as her family, the Weis family is what she refers to them by. She has laughed, cried, and worried about them. She has been their support system if they didn’t have one, she has even loaned coworkers money if they were short on their rent or bills. No matter what was going on in her life, she always put customers and her employees first... and throughout all the extra that she did... her job didn’t miss a beat. If anything it made her excel at her job. It made my mom happy to know that she had make her coworkers and employees feel at home while they were at work.
Weis Markets wants to be the employer of choice, and make their employees feel like they belong to a family. To remove my mother from what she had considered her family, after she had been the one to make that place a home... into an area with a high crime rate was unacceptable. To see my mom come home and cry because she is too scared to go to work because she can’t even feel comfortable about walking to her car, is the worst and scariest feeling for me as well. Weis market let not only my mother down, but her family, and her employees.... they broke my mother’s heart. When she was the heart of that store and everyone and anyone that has met my mother knew that she is what made that store special.
In 11 years, my mother has NEVER been written up, or disciplined. She has just received a great appraisal, and this is what weis does to one of their greatest employees? That doesn’t make sense.

WEIS MARKETS, if this is how you treat your “FAMILY” I would hate to see how you treat the outsiders.
