Patient Care Assistant (PCA)

ARAA Home Care LLC, Maryland is currently looking for Patient Care Assistants to work in full- or part-time positions. We are looking for people who are dedicated to providing compassionate and extensive care for our patients.

Please see below for an outline of the responsibilities and requirements:

PCA Responsibilities:

  • Provide great patient care
  • Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them
  • Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising
  • Turn and reposition bedridden patients
  • Ensure patients receive an appropriate diet by providing their dietary restrictions, food allergies and preferences
  • Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans and suggested activities
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and report into medical and nursing staff
  • Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate as requested by staff
  • Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care including open wounds, bruises or blood in urine
  • Remind patients to take medications and nutritional supplements
  • Note observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses
  • Stay up to date on CNA/PCA training and facility policy and procedures

CNA Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ work experience
  • Basic Health and Tuberculosis screening
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Program
  • Patient Care experience
  • Current CPR (American Heart Association) Certification
  • Ability to think and work independently and with direction and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance
  • Meeting recurring training requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
