Grocery Store Relocates, Opens New Location In Anne Arundel County

A grocery store is moving one of its Anne Arundel County locations. The new site will feature a Starbucks and create 200 jobs.

CROFTON, MD — Giant Food is relocating its Crofton grocery store.

The current location at 1161 Maryland Route 3 North near Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will close Thursday evening. The new site at 1649 Crofton Center opens Friday at 6 a.m.

The new Giant will be located in the same shopping center as Gold's Gym and At Home. The 56,000-square-foot grocer fills the vacancy left by Shoppers.

The workers from the previous Giant will transfer to the new one. This location will additionally create 200 new jobs.

Giant Food will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at 9 a.m. The business will present donations to The Focus Foundation and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Shannon Leadbetter, the County Council member for District 7, will speak at the event.

“This new store is designed to be a true one-stop shop for the Crofton community,” Giant Food President Ira Kress said in a Tuesday press release announcing the move. “We look forward to delivering excellent value, an expanded assortment of fresh and convenient solutions, and a significantly improved shopping experience.”

Customers can expect expanded natural and organic selections. There will also be an extensive gourmet cheese section along with full-service meat and seafood departments. Prepared food offerings will include made in-house fresh sushi and smoked meats.

Additional amenities feature a full-service pharmacy, a Starbucks café and a full-service floral department.

The pharmacy will offer vaccines, including COVID-19 immunizations and boosters. Certified pharmacists will give free consultations to recommend over-the-counter and prescription medicines.

Licensed nutritionists are also available for free consultations, online nutrition classes and webinars. More information is posted at giantfood.com/nutrition.

Shoppers can pre-order their groceries for pickup or delivery at giantfood.com or on the Giant Food mobile application.
