Albert John Hartley, 48, of Rockville, died from complications of lymphatic cancer on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Albert was born on November 14, 1966, and grew up in Bethesda, graduating from Walter Johnson High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Earlham College in Indiana. He worked for 18 years as a senior systems analyst at Westat in Rockville.

Albert is survived by his wife of 15 years, Brady; his mother, Dot; his brothers, Ralph, Henry, and George and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Bob.

Albert was a friend to many. He loved to travel and had visited 36 countries. He was an avid birder and a talented amateur naturalist and wildlife photographer.

A memorial will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville on Sept. 26, 2015, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Audubon Naturalist Society (http://anshome.org/).
