Back To School: Donate Backpacks To Help MoCo Children In Supportive Housing

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless is inviting members of the public to help ensure that 234 children in its supportive housing programs have the supplies they need for the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

MCCH is hosting a 2023 Back to School Fair on Friday, Aug. 11, at its new main office located at 2301 Research Blvd., Suite 200, in Rockville.

Members of the public are asked to donate backpacks stuffed with supplies for pre-K and elementary students and to include a $50 gift card from Walmart, Visa or Mastercard for new shoes. Desired supplies include pencil box, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, slim markers, glue sticks, spiral notebook, composition notebook, and headphones.

Signup online to help a student and drop off the backpacks between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the MCCH office.

MCCH is as also looking for five organizations to sponsor the fair by donating $1,000 each.
