Free Chromebooks Available To Low-Income Families In Montgomery County

Starting Wednesday, Montgomery Connects is providing 60,000 free Chromebooks to county residents who do not have access to a computer.

Recipients of the free Chromebooks must be at least seven years old, have a library card and be a Maryland resident. Proof of ID and address are required. Recipients do not have to be a U.S. citizen.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery Connects has received a new federal grant that will allow it to provide 60,000 free Chromebooks to residents who do not have access to a computer.

People who previously received a free computer from Montgomery County from May 2022 to April 2023 are not eligible to receive another computer. The county is limiting the computer giveaway to one per person.

Recipients must be at least seven years old, have a library card and be a Maryland resident. Proof of ID and address are required. Recipients do not have to be a U.S. citizen.

This is the final grant for free computers that Montgomery County expects to receive, according to Montgomery Connects.

Residents must visit the Montgomery Connects website to make a reservation to pick up a computer. Here are the locations and times for eligible residents to pick up a free Chromebook.
