Israel Presents 2019 - "Shelter" and "Redemption"

Two Contemporary Israeli Films Set for Showing at Rockville Synagogue

Tikvat Israel Congregation will show the best of recent Israeli cinema with two films preceding commentary by an Israel official. Scheduled for showing are “Shelter” on Jan. 19 and “Redemption” on Jan. 26. Both films will be screened at 7:45 p.m.

Admission for synagogue members is $12 for one film ($20 for both) and $15 per show for non-members. Students with an ID are charged $5. Advance tickets may be purchased at www.tikvatisrael.org/israelpresents2019.

The films will be followed by a dessert reception featuring coffee provided by Mayorga Coffee of Rockville. Post-film conversation will be moderated by Lisa LeBourgeois, cultural affairs officer with the Israeli Embassy in Washington.

“Shelter” is a political thriller about a female Mossad agent who is called back from sick leave and assigned to a “babysitting" job of an unknown government asset. Under a new identity, she heads to Germany to protect a Lebanese informant.

“Redemption” is the story of Menachem, a former front man for a rock band, who has become religious and is the father to a 6-year-old girl. When his daughter is diagnosed with cancer, he must find a creative solution to fund the expensive treatments so he reunites his band for one last tour.
