Teen Who Called In Bomb Threat At High School Faces Charges: Police

Montgomery County officers determined the same juvenile also made bombs threats against schools in Howard County and several other states.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Threats of mass violence and other charges have been filed against a teen boy for making bomb threats over the phone to faculty members at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville last November, according to police.

At about 8 a.m. on Nov. 27, a male called Wooton High School and stated that bombs were placed inside specific areas of the school. Police officers, K-9 units and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel arrived at the high school in response to the threat.

Officers helped students and faculty members evacuate the school. K-9 units along with officers searched the school and did not locate any bombs.

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Behavioral Assessment and Administrative Unit spoke with witnesses, obtained information as well as evidence and conducted search warrants that led them to identify the juvenile male as the suspect.

Officers also determined that the same suspect also made bombs threats against schools in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Missouri and Howard County, Maryland.

Along with the threat of mass violence, the juvenile faces charges of telephone misuse. His case has been referred to Montgomery County’s Department of Juvenile Services for disposition.

The juvenile is also currently facing criminal charges in the other states.
