ROCKVILLE, MD — Thirty-five homes can expect to temporarily lose water service while crews excavate a water main in Rockville. The work is in response to a leak at 138 New Mark Esplanade.

When water does come back on, it could look a little different than normal.

"Repairs, disruptions and maintenance to water mains may cause your water to be discolored," said the City of Rockville in a notice. "If this occurs, running the cold water for a few minutes will normally flush out any discolored water from the pipes."

If water appears cloudy, that could be a sign of air in the line — if that happens, turn on the faucet at the highest point in your home and work your way down, eventually opening all of them.

The city said everything should clear up within 24 hours, and to call the city’s 24-hour Utility Emergency Line at 240-314-8567 if there are problems.
