Fire Sparked By Fireworks Damages Montgomery County Home

ASPEN HILL, MD — Authorities are blaming fireworks for a house fire in Montgomery County that displaced one person and caused $500,000 in damage.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters were called to a home in the 14400 block of Brad Drive in Aspen Hill after the fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said the fire started on a carport roof before spreading to the home's attic.

The blaze caused an estimated $400,000 in structural damage as well as $100,000 in damages to the home's contents, a car and a neighbor's shed.

No injuries were reported, authorities said.
