Ralph W. Creel Jr., 88, Formerly of Silver Spring

Ralph W. Creel Jr., 88, of Edgewater and previously of Silver Spring, died Wednesday Sept. 9, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Washington, D.C. in 1927 to the late Ralph W. Creel Sr. and Elizabeth H. Creel, Ralph was a career D.C. firefighter and a paratrooper at the end of WWII.

Ralph was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Norma E. Creel, and survived by two sons, Michael W. Creel of Hagerstown and Ralph W. Creel and his wife Karen of Severna Park; two daughters, Stephanie Creel of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Nancy Bean of Olney; six grandchildren, Richard Krick Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE, James Krick of Selbyville, DE, Craig Krick of Lewes, DE, Sam Creel of Severna Park, Ashley Wood and Laura Oliver, both of Hagerstown; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends are invited to visit with Ralph’s family on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
