Richard Louis Vilardo (Dick), 65 and his wife, Julianne Humphreys Vilardo (Jody), 67, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015.

Dick was born January 13, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Sanford H. Calhoun High School on Long Island in 1967. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 1972 from Western New England College in Springfield, MA, and his master’s degree in Finance from Pace University in New York.

Jody was born February 19, 1948 in Ithaca, NY. A graduate of Ithaca High School in 1966, Cornell School of Hotel Administration in 1970, Jody spent several years in New York City.

Dick and Jody met while working for the accounting firm Harris Kerr Foster, Inc. Soon after getting married in 1976, they moved to Maryland, where Dick was offered a job with Marriott International at the headquarters in Washington, D.C. After learning the ropes, Dick decided to go into business for himself in real estate investment and hotel management. Jody built a successful career developing and growing the audit division of DeLeon & Stang CPAs, where she became partner before retiring in 2007.

Dick was an avid sports fan and had a tremendous love of golf. Jody, a breast cancer survivor, was actively involved in the community, the DAR and a member of the Glens Garden Club. Dick and Jody’s huge hearts and love for the family was evident every day of their lives and through their work with the Children’s Inn at NIH.

They are survived by their two children, Andrew and Katherine, as well as two grandchildren and many devoted friends and family.

Friends will be received at the funeral home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda from 3 to 5 and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5500 River Road in Bethesda. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Richard and Julianne Vilardo may be made to the “Jody and Dick Vilardo Memorial Fund” at The Children’s Inn at NIH or online at:www.ChildrensInn.org.
