MASSACHUSETTS — The state is in for two days of excessive heat, with "feels like" temperatures approaching 100 degrees for large parts of Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued heat advisories Monday morning for most of Worcester and Middlesex counties, the south coast and parts of the North Shore. The advisories will be in effect until Tuesday night.

While actual air temperatures may only reach into the high 80s, humidity will push heat indices — a measure of air temperature and humidity combined — to near 100.

"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," the advisory said. "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors."

Monday will likely be the hottest day of the week, with highs around 91 forecast for both Boston and Worcester. The Cape will only be slightly cooler Monday, with highs in the low 80s.

Temperatures will only fall a little bit on Wednesday and beyond, and humidity will stick around. The state may also see some fallout from Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in Texas Monday morning as a category 1 storm. That could mean heavy downpours and flash flooding later in the week.
