MA Startups Among Fastest-Growing In America: New Ranking

MASSACHUSETTS — Several startups in Massachusetts are ranked among the fastest-growing private companies in America in the 2024 Inc. 5000 list released Tuesday.

The companies on the list have experienced rapid revenue growth in recent years while navigating inflationary pressures, rising interest costs and hiring challenges from 2020 through 2023. The top 500 companies on the list had an average median three-year revenue growth rate of 1,637 percent. Together, the 5,000 companies on the list have added 874,458 jobs over the past three years.

To qualify for the ranking, companies must be U.S.-based and must have been generating revenue by March 31, 2020. Although some of the startups may have gone public or been acquired since the review period ended, the list represents companies that were private, for-profit and independent as of Dec. 31, 2023, Inc. said.

The companies must also have had minimum revenues of $100,000 for 2020 and $2 Million for 2023. See the full methodology.

Seventeen Massachusetts companies are included in the top 500, including three in the top 100. They are:

• Uwill, a Natick-based health services company, saw a 3-year growth of over 8,700 percent and ranked as the 27th fastest-growing startup.
• CityLight Homes, a Peabody-based real estate company, saw a 5,226 percent growth over the period and ranked as the 52nd fastest-growing startup.
• 1upHealth, the Boston-based health products company, grew 3,435 percent over the three years and ranked as the 95th fastest growing startup.

Just outside of the top 500 is Heart Mind Institute, a Hatfield-based education industry startup, grew 780 percent over the last three years and ranks 578th. Marcella, a Northampton-based consumer products company, finished one spot above Heart Mind after also growing 780 percent over the period.
