MA's Newest Rooftop Bar Brings The Tropics To East Boston: MA Cheap Eats

The team at Cunard Tavern officially opened a new rooftop bar called The Layover in East Boston.

EAST BOSTON, MA — It isn't often that people think of Boston and the tropics in the same thread, but a new rooftop bar aims to bring a little piece of the islands to the city.

The Layover, a new rooftop tiki bar in East Boston, opened this week as the latest effort from the team at Cunard Tavern. It features a view of the city and the harborside on the rooftop of the tavern.

Officials said food will be crafted by Chef Nate Carr, complimenting a list of handcrafted cocktails "amid lush greenery, vibrant ambiance and panoramic views."

The cocktails are classically-minded with a flair unique to modern tiki menus. Rum and fresh fruit juice provide the base with room to deviate from the specifics of classics like scorpion bowls and rum punches.

The food menu finds inspiration in Asian cuisine, featuring dishes like hoisin ribs, Korean bulgogi and duck spring rolls.

On Mondays, The Layover offers $1 oysters with a "Yacht Rock Brunch" slated for Saturdays moving forward.

The Layover opened for the season on Thursday and will be open for the summer on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
