MASSACHUSETTS — Smoke from wildfires burning thousands of miles away will enter the skies over Massachusetts on Tuesday, and will likely create hazy conditions for the rest of the week, according to forecasts.

Luckily, the wildfire smoke will stay very high in the air, keeping air quality near ground level normal, according to the National Weather Service. Air quality levels were good across Massachusetts as of Tuesday afternoon.

"Skies will become increasingly hazy this afternoon, from north to south, as elevated wildfire smoke streams over southern New England. This smoke is expected to remain aloft with little to no impact on air quality. Hazy skies will likely stick around for much of the week," the weather service said in a tweet.

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Department of Fish and Game on Sunday sent a crew of 21 Massachusetts wildfire firefighters to Idaho to help fight the Flat Fire, which was burning across 1,600 acres as of Monday.
